Plant Wisdom, Ancestral Medicine, Cultivating Beauty as Healing Modality

Welcome to The Black Herbalist, a digital sanctuary where exploration of the plants, wellness, spirituality, and beauty are all in one.

About Me

I'm Donette, the clinical herbalist and spiritualist behind The Black Herbalist. I’ve been studying the spiritual application of plants in Hoodoo and other spiritual modalities for 10 years and formalized my training with certifications in Clinical Herbalism, Plant Spirit Medicine, and more.

I’m a facilitator, teacher, medicine woman, energy weaver, swampseer, poisoner from Kansas. I’m currently living in the Soufeast.

I created this Substack to share the knowledge I've gathered through my training with school and elders alike, explore life as a 30 something Black herbalist, and to build a community of people interested in reclaiming herbal traditions rooted in African and diaspora cultures.

If you are a Black herbalist too and want to join a professional community, consider applying to the Black Herbalists Collective.

If you would like to work with me as an herbalism client, visit my practice Honeybalm Health.
